Choose UHMWPE Chemical-Resistant Hoses: Don't Use the Experience of Ordinary Rubber Corrosion-Resis
Common Purchasing Misconception: Labeled as Corrosion-Resistant ≠ Suitable for Extreme Conditions of High Wear and Corrosion
Many industrial purchasing personnel habitually apply the selection logic of ordinary rubber corrosion-resistant pipes when choosing corrosion-resistant conveying hoses, assuming that as long as they can withstand acid and alkali media, they can be used directly. However, after actual deployment, it is quickly discovered that many ordinary corrosion-resistant rubber pipes, in scenarios involving corrosive slurries with solid particles on the conveyor belt, experience rapid wear through the inner layer and media penetration corrosion of the reinforcing layer within less than a month of operation. This not only leads to material loss due to corrosive media leakage but may even cause on-site safety hazards.
UHMWPE chemical-resistant hoses are designed for complex operating conditions that ordinary corrosion-resistant rubber pipes are completely unsuitable for: scenarios such as conveying corrosive mineral slurries in mines, transferring chemical waste containing particles, and conveying pickling mud in metallurgy. The media possess both high corrosiveness and high abrasion characteristics. Ordinary rubber pipes are either corrosion-resistant but not wear-resistant, or wear-resistant but with a narrow corrosion resistance range, making long-term stable operation under these extreme conditions impossible.
The inherent dual advantages of the material fundamentally adapt to abrasive and synergistic working conditions.
The core performance of a qualified UHMWPE chemical-resistant hose stems from the unique molecular structure of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE). With a molecular weight exceeding 1.5 million, the material inherently possesses two core advantages: extremely strong chemical corrosion resistance and ultra-high abrasion resistance. It maintains stable chemical inertness to most acid, alkali, and salt solutions, as well as common organic solvents, and will not swell or decompose even after long-term contact. Simultaneously, its abrasion resistance is 4-7 times that of ordinary rubber, preventing rapid wear of the inner layer even when subjected to high-speed impact from angular solid particles.
The inner layer is made of one-piece extruded UHMWPE tubing, with a smooth inner wall and extremely low coefficient of friction. This not only prevents scale buildup but also significantly reduces transport resistance during particle flow. The middle high-strength fiber or steel wire winding reinforcement layer is designed to adapt to different pressure levels, providing sufficient pressure resistance while ensuring the hose's flexibility, adapting to all transport scenarios from low to medium pressure. The outer layer is made of aging-resistant protective material, which further protects the internal structure from external environmental corrosion. Even if used for a long time in an open-air corrosive environment, the outer layer will not age and crack quickly.
